In the time we are in, when your ministry gains more influence you shall encounter a lot of criticism. Understand early that, not everyone who criticises you is persecuting you. Criticism, and even unfair opinions are part of life and ministry. The early church endured worse than internet trolls, they faced imprisonment, beatings and death for preaching Christ. A mean tweet or a critical YouTube video is not really persecution, nor is it the end of your ministry. The gospel gives you the humility to examine criticism rather than immediately defend yourself.
How? The gospel tells you, you are more sinful than your critics could ever fully know, but in Christ you are more loved than you could ever imagine. That revelation should free you from both defensiveness and and discouragement.
Look at Joseph. His brothers rejected him, falsely accused him through their actions, and sold him into slavery. But none of it could overthrow God's providential purposes for his life (Genesis 50:20). How much more should you rest in Christ, who was falsely accused and crucified, but raised in victory?
Your calling is not sustained by public approval but by God's grace and providence. He chose you before they even know you existed He called you! What God has appointed for you cannot be taken away by your critics, and what He has not appointed cannot be secured by your popularity. So receive correction humbly, answer falsehood truthfully, repent where necessary, and leave your reputation in God's hands. The gospel frees you to be faithful without needing everyone to like you!
