Significant: When Life Seems Purposeless
by Mpho Taole
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in themEphesians 2:10
When I was in Grade 10, my school offered I.T., and because I was looking for a challenge I decided to choose it as one of my subjects. We did a lot of coding and sometimes my code would not work. I’d spend hours reading through the code and rewriting it and still nothing. Finally, as I was about to give up I’d find out that all that was missing was a full stop. So I’d spend all this time rewriting the same thing only to for a seemingly insignificant thing to be the very thing that I needed.
I have found that in life the things that seem least significant are the ones that create the most impact. We’ve all heard the saying, “If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try sleeping in the same room with a mosquito” — you might not see it but you will know of its presence. I find that most people live their lives not realising their significance, the fact that we’re all here on planet Earth to play a part. If Ephesians 2:10 is anything to go by, we can all conclude that we are all significant. You are not an accident that just happened — you were part of the plan all along.
In this season I’d like to encourage every person reading this to start believing in the significance that is their life and purpose. The same God who created the galaxies saw it fit to shape and form you too — that sure should count for something. That should make one to start raising up and realising that you are wanted and needed. You are not just a breathing ball of dirt. There are so many people who are waiting for you to realise your value and this will in turn cause them to seek out and live out theirs. You are a catalyst for greatness.
Remember whose image you are. Remember who bore your cross. Remember you are still worth the cost. Live significantly!
