Relating With Yourself While Single

Hlumelo Petros For as long as I can remember, I always thought love was a fairy-tale. I thought I would grow older, meet the love of my life, get married, have children — and live happily ever after. ‘Prince Charming’ would come riding in on his trusty steed, ready to rescue me from the big bad world of financial poverty and “demonic singlehood”, he would whisk me away into the sunset, and I would live happily forever. Although I’m somewhat hopeful, relationships don’t necessarily work that way.  A few years back I......

SUCCESS IS NOT PASSIVE: LET’S GET TO WORK

Lebohang Mabula “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” James 2:18-20 The desire to achieve success is one of the things that we all have in common; regardless of age, gender, race or religion, we all want to grow and become better today than what......

Accountability: Doing Life Together

It’s only in 2019, almost 19 years after I became a Christian that I am fully embracing what accountability actually means — and entails. Growing up as a teenager in the church, had meant that things ought to have been done by the book. We ended up being so legalistic about so many things, such as going out to have a good time with friends. We can get so caught up about the things we don’t do: “I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t do drugs. I don’t go to......

Falling In Love With God…AGAIN!

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Matthew 22:37 It is so easy to slip from relationship to religion. God is not looking for people who just sing songs they don’t mean, preach sermons they don’t live, pray prayers that they don’t believe, and read His word like a novel or bedtime story. He wants us to know that He is deeply in love with us and wants us to relate with him......

On God’s Time

“Moses thought that his own people would realise that God was using him to rescue them but they did not.” Acts 7:25 If the above scripture was to be quoted to someone who doesn’t read the Bible but had heard Bible stories, they would think that it happened just before the Exodus, not realising it was more than 40 years prior. Here we see young Moses “trying” to save his people because “God is using him”. Granted, God did eventually use him to free the Hebrews, but, that was 40 years later......

Overcoming the Past: the Danger of Guilt and Shame

Isn’t it strange that although the word “forgiveness” is said to be mentioned fourteen (14) times in the Bible – one of the hardest things we struggle with in our walk with CHRIST, is accepting GOD’s forgiveness. We live in a time where our generation is plagued with the shame of their past mistakes and choices that attempt to steal their joy of stepping into complete freedom. I remember when I accepted CHRIST into my life years ago, I could quickly accept HIS love but when it came to accepting HIS forgiveness,......

Worry not!

Just the other day I was worried about a bid opportunity that had presented itself. I really wanted to participate so badly, but I didn’t have enough funds to pull it through. It just wasn’t coming together. I felt worried and anxious that I would miss this opportunity which may not present itself again. I had nightmares that haunted me night in and out- seeing myself so close, then it slips. Well, this didn’t help me one bit. I felt paralysed, despondent and filled with despair. I felt as though I would......
